It is a catechetical text approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for Confirmation programs in parishes throughout the United States. Just outside the realm of visibility, the sacraments of the Church lie ready to effect real change in our lives. We need only to let them in. In Holiness and Living the Sacramental Life, Fr. Philip-Michael Tangorra lays out the mystical and invisible realities that are present during the celebration of the sacraments and explains how they can lead us to living ever more in tune with God. Read how the sacraments aren’t empty ceremonies, but rather powerful, effective signs that bring grace crashing through the cosmos and into our world. See how beauty—expressed in art, music, and architecture—can bring us deeper into the mysteries of God. Fr. Tangorra teaches the average Catholic how to abandon a lukewarm spirituality and start living a sacramental existence, allowing God to imbue life with a constant sense of union and communion with the divine.
This Is Our Faith, a text and video series, is designed to help all people better understand the Catholic faith and grow in virtue. This resource is also used by other adult faith formation programs in the parish.
In 2024, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Subcommittee on the Catechism approved This Is Our Faith for use throughout the United States in Confirmation programs. Furthermore, the Subcommittee stated that the text is in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
This Is Our Faith fulfills all requirements of the USCCB for its most recent Confirmation curriculum guidelines. Lastly, Kevin J. Sweeney, Bishop of Roman Catholic Diocese of Paterson, has granted This Is Our Faith an imprimatur, meaning that the work may be used for catechetical instruction, as well as in elementary, middle, and high schools anywhere in the world (see Code of Canon Law, c. 827 §2).
